It Takes Two, Baby!

Went to the grocery - Senior Discount Day - and they still - STILL - had some Valentine's balloons! I saw this HUGE heart that says Me & You on it, with lots of hearts and music notes in ribbons around the center of the heart, and I noticed it has a sign that says "I Sing - tap balloon." So I thump it in my best 5th grade middle finger against thumb routine and it starts playing - loudly - "it takes two, baby, it takes two, baby, me and you!"

Now, tell me - could I REALLY go out of there without that balloon??? It had a nice weight on it so it wouldn't fly away. Everytime I hit a bump on the way home, it played "it takes two, baby, it takes two, baby, me and you!"

Well, I drove up the driveway, remote-opened the door, drove into the garage, opened the car, and was just rescuing the balloon when himself arrived to help unload the groceries. Of course, he noticed the balloon - so I told him I got it for him because I love him, then I thumped it - and it played, "it takes two, baby, it takes two, baby, me and you!"

Normally, the Ol' Curmudgeon makes a face, but this time he kinda smiled. We wrestled the groceries into the right places in the house, and I set the balloon up so it was between the kitchen and living room - have to pass it every time you go either way.

Well, of course I thumped it each time I passed and laughed delightedly. Would you believe when the Ol' Curmudgeon passed by it he tapped it, then came over and caressed my head and said, "you suit me, old thing." That's one of his ways of telling me he loves me. He tapped it several other times during the evening.

I think this was a success! On such little things are happy memories built in a marriage.

Hi Elizabeth, I was a big fan of Donny & Marie & they used to sing "It takes two,baby...". Yes, I can just picture the 2 of you & that singing balloon! I am also a big fan of Miss Marple, Narnia, Midsommer's Murders! -xue

Hi Xue - We love those movies, too! And we also love the Lord Peter Wimsey series. The books by Dorothy Sayers are incredible, and the series were well done. We took issue with a few things, but not much. There were two different ones with two different actors as Lord Peter and 3 different actors as his butler, Bunter (I want and Bunter!!). We recommend them very highly. - Elizabeth
